Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns Teases New Mastery System

NCsoft has shown a bit of the new Mastery system for their upcoming expansion, Heart of Thorns. Similar to Diablo III's Paragon system, the Mastery system is an end-game progression system for characters at max levels. However, GW2's system features unique and meaningful gameplay additions, unlike the Diablo counterpart. There will be new areas accessible only with abilities from the Mastery system, as well as overall movement abilities such as gliding and jumping on mushrooms. There will also be specific masteries that can only be gained through unique methods, such as PvE-only skills. Masteries will have their own paths and multiple tiers, offering tons of end game content. This does not mean that lower level players will miss out. All players can earn Mastery points, but can only spend them once they hit level 80. This will let new players not fall too far behind while trying to reach the end game content.
