Guild Wars 2 Coming to Steam on August 23 to Celebrate 10th Anniversary

Guild Wars 2 is celebrating its 10th anniversary by launching on Steam on August 23. This will be the 1st time it will be available on a third party platform and should help expand the game's audience. The core Guild Wars 2 experience is free to play, but it's more of a free trial as the expansions must be purchased to fully experience the game.

“Guild Wars 2 has delighted over 16 million players for a decade with its subscription-free business model, epic collaborative open-world boss encounters, and revolutionary mount system,” said Kendall Boyd, Senior Vice President of Marketing at NCSOFT West. “By launching on Steam, a whole new audience of players who have never had the chance to adventure with us will be able to experience one of the greatest fantasy worlds in gaming. Everyone at NCSOFT and ArenaNet is excited to welcome them into our amazing community.”

The Steam launch will also offer a new $99.97 bundle called 'Complete Edition' which includes all 3 expansions (Heart of Thorns, Path of Fire, and End of Dragons), and all 5 Living World seasons.

Guild Wars 2 will also begin supporting Twitch drops beginning on the 23rd, so make sure to tune into your favorite GW2 streamer to have a shot at exclusive in-game rewards.

I haven't played much Guild Wars 2 since it first launched, but I plan on giving it another chance once its on Steam. I expect many others will too.
