Grand Chase, the free to play 2D MMORPG from that shut down back in 2015, officially relaunched today on Steam and is available globally. Grand Chase first launched in the West in 2008 and was eventually shut down in 2015 after its developer decided to focus on its other title, Elsword Online, instead.

Given the huge success of classic servers in MMORPGs and an overall boom in nostalgia, Kog Games decided to relaunch Grand Chase. Time will tell if it proves successful, but so far it seems like the relaunch is a HUGE success, as SteamDB data shows over 77,000 concurrent players.

As of now, Grand Chase is the 8th most played game on Steam, which is incredible for a game that shut down 6 years ago.

Who could have predicted a defunct MMORPG relaunching in 2021 would be the 4th most played game on Steam? Not me.
