Frozen Flame’s Starting Zone Gets Some Love In This Week’s Big Update

Dreamside Interactive has pushed out a rather hefty patch this week for its multiplayer survival RPG, Frozen Flame. The patch addresses a whole host of player feedback gathered from both the early access build and the playable demo, specifically those from various livestreamers who tried it out during the Steam Next Fest event back in June.
“During the past Steam Next Fest many players have tried out the Frozen Flame demo and shared their first impressions of the game,” said Dreamside. “And we were more than happy to read their feedback and watch their streams […] to feel every moment of your experience, fix the game’s downfalls and make the game more enjoyable.”
The new player experience has now been streamlined and condensed into one single path that leads to the final portal instead of their previous “all roads must lead to the portal” design principle. This should prevent new players from getting lost and veering off the intended path during their first foray into the game. All they need to do now is to complete one questline before being sent off to the real world. Just to be clear, that’s Frozen Flame’s main game world and not the IRL one.
The Cradle of Keepers starting zone has also been updated with four new NPCs, two new quests, and a new boss, the Ice Elemental, who’ll be waiting in the Tower of Minds at the end of the Cradle of Keepers questline. The crafting system has also been reworked to automatically unlock recipes once a new type of resource is gathered. This will allow players to expand their tech trees by simply venturing out and exploring the game world.
Players will also stumble upon magic seeds during their adventures, which can be used to grow magical materials for use in the new Magic Plant recipes. Potion Brewing has also been added which will allow them to cook up various potions using the new Cauldron station and water collected from Magic Wells.
The building system has also been given some love, now allowing players to place basic workstations on the ground without the need to build a foundation. While this will allow quicker access to a workstation, those built without proper foundations or the protection of a shelter or the new construction core won’t last long, especially outside the Cradle of Keepers. Newly-added destructive weather outside the starting zone can easily huff and puff and blow your workstation and even your house down. “The protection of the construction core alone won’t be enough - you’ll need the safety of a proper shelter. And the worse storms you want to endure, the better material you’d want to use!” warns the devs.
New Teleportation Stones and Returnal Stones have also been added to make travelling long distances less of a chore. Players can now instantly travel between the Teleportation Stones or use their Returnal Stones to bring them back to the nearest Teleportation Stone by using up all their flame.
Players can also expect improvements to the day/night cycle, UI, combat and other minute but equally important aspects of gameplay, the details of which can be found in the lengthy patch notes.
