Frozen Flame’s new Cataclysm Mode is now available for beta testing in the live version of the early access open-world MMORPG. The beta version of the new survival mode features several improvements over last month’s alpha version, including a new fatigue system that can be restored by consuming food and drinks, rebalanced and faster-paced combat, as well as the ability to play musical instruments and manage vendor stalls.

The team has also tweaked the survival mode’s mechanics to focus more on actual survival and exploration rather than ganking other players in PvP.

“We’ve also received a lot of requests to make the Survival mode compatible with coop experience. So, we’ve adjusted the mode’s focus from Orders and PvP to survival and exploration,” explained developer Dreamside Interactive. “You’ll be able to protect your buildings with a special module – a sentinel. For those who either don’t want to participate in PvP, or want the mode to be more punishing, we’ll implement new server settings.”

Note that you’ll need to own a copy of the game to be able to test out the new survival mode despite its “open beta” tag. The base edition of the game is currently priced at $29.99 on Steam if you want to give it a whirl.
