Final Fantasy XIV's Patch Notes for Patch 4.06a go Live, bring with a slew of PvP Balance Changes
Final Fantasy XIV isn't typically the first game you think of when you think of PvP. Traditionally, most FFXIV patches have been centered around either job balancing, or adding new content. However, Patch 4.06a brings with it exclusively PvP changes, for just about every job in the game! Without further ado, lets run down the changes.
Tanks
- Paladin - Mostly nerfed, with Shield Bash being lowered to 2 seconds, from 3
- Warrior - 500 extra HP, from 15,000 to 15,500. Onslaught now stuns, no longer knocks back enemies
- Dark Knight - Power Slash nerfed, lower enemy's incoming healing from 20% to 10%
- All three tanks now take 5% less damage and deal 5% less damage. Warrior has 5% more HP and 5% more incoming healing
Melee Damage Dealers
- Monk - Tornado Kick nerfed from 2,500 to 2,000. Riddle of Fire saw a 10% damage nerf and 10% recast time penalty nerf.
- Dragoon - Jump nerfed by 250 potency, to 1,000. Battle Litany now has a recast time of 60 seconds, but damage dealt effect nerfed from 10% to 5%
- Samurai - Buffs in Kenki Gauge costs.
- Ninja - Nerfs to Ninki generation, and potency of Raiton and Bhavacakra
Ranged Damage Dealers
- Bard - HP Increased from 10,000 to 11,500
- Machinist - HP Increased from 10,000 to 11,500
Casters
- Black Mage - HP increased from 10,000 to 11,000. Foul nerfed by 500, to 4,000
- Summoner - HP increased from 10,000 to 11,000
- Red Mage - Buffs across the board. Same HP buff as the other casters, potency increases on Veraero, Verthunder, and Impact by 250 potency. Manafication's cooldown reduced from 60 to 45 seconds.
Healers
- White Mage - Regen will now always be overwritten when reapplied
- Scholar - Adloquium will now always be overwritten when reapplied. Lustrate now only increases Faerie Gauge by 5 instead of 10
- Astrologian - Essential Dignity and Disable's cooldowns reduced from 15s to 10s, and 45s to 30s respectively.
Thoughts on this, as someone who doesn't PvP
This is definitely a step in the right direction for Square Enix. With Stormblood, they put a clear divide in gameplay between PvP actions and PvE actions. Now, the developers can balance PvP as much as they want - but there is still a long way to go before anyone takes FFXIV PvP seriously. Botting is a huge problem in PvP, and needs to be taken care of first, before anyone can say that Square Enix really cares about their PvP, seeing as how SE has been lax in combating the issues of EXP Farming and Botting.
