Final Fantasy XIV announces Preliminary Patch Notes for Patch 4.0 - Stormblood

11:24 PM EDT: The Full Patch Notes have been released. You can find them here.

It's finally here! After a long wait since the embargo on the North American Media Tour first lifted, Final Fantasy XIV has finally released their preliminary patch notes for Patch 4.0 - Stormblood. Some key points of Stormblood that caught our eye that we didn't know were going to be changed before-

  • Twist of Fate - Players who defeat a special FATE can earn dramatically more EXP on the next FATE (FATEs are special overworld events)
  • The penalties for dying (Weakness and Brink of Death) have been increased dramatically, to 25% and 50% respectively.
  • HP, MP, and TP will all be set to 100% when entering any instance
  • Massive changes to the Party Finder, including being able to bar people who have not completed content from entering.

The patch notes are quite extensive, and these are only the preliminary ones. We'll update you with the full patch notes once they go live. We'd love to cover every change Stormblood brings, but being it a full expansion, it is quite difficult.

Also, at the E3 Live Letter, Square Enix formally announced the schedule for FFXIV's Stormblood launch, and patches 4.01 and 4.05. It comes to no surprise to people that this exactly mimics Heavensward's launch schedule, with the addition of the Lost Canals of Uznair, which is an Aquapolis-like instance, except for level 70 characters. Special loot and gil is available for those who manage to clear all sections of it.
