FFXIV prepares to launch new server, Devs offer free transfers

Final Fantasy XIV's EU servers have been full for quite some time. Square Enix, developers of FFXIV, group their servers into Data Centers, or just server clusters in laymen's terms. Japanese players get to choose from three data centers, with 32 different servers available to them (split 11/11/10). North American players get to choose from two data centers, with 25 servers to choose from (with a 13/11 split). European players, sadly, only have 8 servers to play on.
It is for this reason that, to alleviate high server congestion, Square Enix has decided to add in a 9th server to the European data center - Omega. Of course, players who have built up a community of friends wouldn't want to readily transfer to Omega, would they?
That's why Square Enix has announced free server transfers to Omega, and other "Designated Worlds." On top of that, you get special bonuses for creating or transferring to New Worlds and Designated Worlds. It's a bit confusing, but lets try to break it down
- New World character creation nets you a Double EXP Bonus until level 60
- 10 Silver Chocobo Feathers (Exchangeable for gear)
- 1,000,000 Gil when you hit level 30
- 15 days of Free Play Time when you hit level 30
Square Enix isn't pulling any punches here. They really want you to help fill up New Worlds, and on top of that, even transferring to New Worlds and Designated Worlds means you get special bonuses, different for each one. You can read all about it here. Below, you can check out some of the new gear sets coming to FFXIV in Stormblood - dubbed Eorzea's 2017 Summer Collection!
