Indie MMORPG Eternal Tombs is now in the final stages of development with plans to run more public playtests next year. According to Triune Studios creative director Josh Caba, the team is now working to polish the game to get players into the dungeon master-controlled game world as soon as possible.

“This year has been an incredible year for progress in the development of Eternal Tombs and 2024 will be the year where we start to wrap things up for a 2025 launch,” Caba recounts. “Development for Eternal Tombs started about 6 years ago and it's been quite a huge effort to get here, but we're in our polish stage and we cannot wait to show you some of the surprises and development we've done over the last 6 years to get to this point.”

For those who’ve never heard of Eternal Tombs until now, it’s a hardcore medieval fantasy MMORPG with real-life dungeon masters pulling the strings, ready to drop new challenges and events on unsuspecting players on the fly. How the developers plan to have a dungeon master ready and waiting 24/7 is still unclear, but if done right, it promises to revolutionize the way we play MMORPGs.

Eternal Tombs will be buy-to-play with optional subscription perks and will be completely free of any microstransactions. Beta sign-ups are still open on the official site if you want to throw your name into the hat for a shot at getting an invite into next year’s playtests.
