Square Enix continues to prune live service games from its portfolio as it announces the impending closure of its 2D mobile co-op MMORPG Echoes of Mana. The mobile game is the latest addition to the popular Mana franchise and promised a classic 2D experience featuring characters from previous games in the series.

Unfortunately, Echoes of Mana is now scheduled to shutdown on May 15th, less than a year after it first launched, due to difficulties “maintaining the app experience.” In line with the announcement, Spirit Crystal sales have now been disabled but they can still be used to purchase items from the cash shop for the time being. No refunds will be given for any remaining currency so it’s probably best to use it all up while you still can.

Echoes of Mana is the latest live service game that’s getting axed as part of Square Enix’ efforts to drive net sales up by weeding out “weak” titles. Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier was the first to shutdown this past January with Babylon’s Fall following suit at the end of the month and Marvel’s Avengers this fall.
