Drakkar World Boss Encounter Gets Buffed In The Latest Guild Wars 2 Update

guild wars 2 shadow in ice blk bannerThink you’ve got the new Icebrood Saga Drakkar encounter down to a tee? Well, today’s Guild Wars 2 patch mixes things up a bit with a number of small but significant changes to the recently-released Shadow in the Ice world boss event. “As Jormag's influence continues to grow throughout the region, Drakkar and its minions grow more powerful,” says ArenaNet.

With today’s update, Drakkar gets new abilities, increased damage, a buffed up defiance bar, and decreased health scaling. His spirit champions have also been buffed with increased health and damage. The duration of Spiritual Binding has also been increased from 4 minutes to 8 minutes.

Players will also be automatically dismounted once the boss event starts. This also applies to players entering the boss area after the encounter has begun. The Nimble Onslaught Eligibility effect has also been tweaked, the achievement removed, and the new Truly Nimble Onslaught achievement added to the Drakkar achievement list.

The good news? You get better loot. “With greater risks come greater rewards,” says the devs. “Drakkar rewards have been updated with a new Broken Voice ascended weapon set, as well as other additions. Defeating Drakkar will also give an increased amount of experience once per day.”

The patch also comes with the usual collection of game improvements and bug fixes. You can check out the full patch notes on the Guild Wars 2 official forums. You'll find the official Shadows in Ice trailer below just in case you missed it.
