CitizenCon Puts New Star Citizen Gameplay Footage On Display: Sandstorms, Sandworms, & AI, Oh My!

CitizenCon 2016 revealed a half hour of scripted Star Citizen gameplay, showing off silky smooth animations that have become synonymous with Roberts Space Industries. I have to admit it's beautiful thanks to planetary procedural generation, some silly AI, and an unprecedented attention to detail.
As you follow the camera it breaks through a planet's atmosphere and hovers across the surface, displaying multiple ecosystems and even an intrepid mountain climber waving from atop a peak. It then zooms into the first-person experience of a fictional player who lands to discover the source of a distress beacon.
Even as a scripted demo it's impressive, especially the sandstorm and accompanying Dune inspired sandworm.
In other news Star Citizen's single-player campaign, Squadron 42, has been delayed. To when? That's a question as mysterious as the universe.
I'm still waiting for a more polished build before I jump onto the Star Citizen express. But if it shapes up to become what was shown off at GamesCom and the below trailer I'll be a believer sooner than later.
