Bungie Details Future Support For Playing Destiny On "Legacy Consoles"

When Destiny: Rise of Iron launches in September, it won't be available on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360—consoles that Bungie is now referring to as "Legacy Consoles." This break in parity has a lot of implications for Legacy Console users and Bungie has published a detailed look at what you will have to do to upgrade, as well as what will and won't be available to you, should you decide that you don't want to upgrade just yet.
Beginning sometime in August, the following features will not be available to users who are playing Destiny on Legacy Consoles.
- Purchasing Silver.
- The Trials of Osiris.
- The Iron Banner.
- Live events.
- "Some Destiny Companion features."
- The ability to access "new Eververse Item purchases across console generations."
The only way to get these features back is to get a current generation console and a copy of Destiny for that console. As long as you upgrade from Xbox 360 to Xbox One or PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4, you will even be able to keep your account. You can find more information about the upgrade process on the official website.
