After being delayed several times, it looks like “Tiny MORPG” Book of Travels will finally be hitting early access on Might and Delight’s promised date. In fact, Settler and Nomad tier backers will actually get to jump in days ahead of everyone else starting on Friday, October 1st.

“As of Friday 1st October Settlers will be able to play using the key that will appear in their Backerkit accounts,” announced Might and Delight. “Once the Settlers are – ahem – settled in, then Nomads will be free to roam. Thursday 7th is the day that all Nomads will find keys in their accounts.”

If you want to get in ahead of the pack, you can still upgrade your pledge to one of the eligible tiers on Kickstarter. Non-backers will get access on October 11th.

Meanwhile, the team has penned a short blog post about the Passage card mini-game, one of the features that will be available when Book of Travels launches into early access.

“Should you ever wander into The Voices’ Tavern at night time, you may be offered a game of Passage. Passage is one of many ways to distract yourself on your travels and it’s a game of luck and strategy. [. . .] While the game play is relatively simple, the cards themselves are said to hold deeper significance and are regarded as something far more solemn and auspicious than mere entertainment. To many, Passage cards hide a secret, and some folk are quite fixated on discerning a revelation in their inter-relations. And so it’s not only for the material losses folk have suffered that a game of Passage is taboo in Braided Shore.”

The early access version of Passage will be in its most basic form with new mechanics to be added in the future, including the ability to gamble away your worldly possessions. The cards themselves will also evolve as Braided Shore changes over time.

You can find out more about Passage on the Book of Travels Kickstarter page.
