Book Of Travels Developers Says ‘Smaller Team Doesn’t Mean Smaller Ambition’

In spite of the layoffs suffered by Might and Delight before Christmas last year, the studio assures backers and players that development continues on Book of Travels.
In their first letter to the community this year, the studio outlines their plans for the tiny MMO in 2022, which includes new mountainous forest and hidden underground areas and more character customization options.
“2021 was a huge year for us, both in terms of wonderful milestones and challenging hardships. But now we’re turning our gaze forwards, because 2022 holds plenty of exciting things for Book of Travels. Right now we’re deep in the trenches working on those things.”
“While we are a much smaller team in the beginning of 2022 than we were in the beginning of 2021, we don’t plan on shrinking our ambitions for Book of Travels,” said Might and Delight. “Everything that we’ve confirmed we’re going to do is still on the table. Our workflow has obviously seen changes recently but again: Book of Travels will stay on its course to becoming the RPG experience of our dreams.”
The studio also addressed concerns that they’re too focused on creating new content while there are still bugs and other issues that need fixing.
“On top of bringing more content to the game we will keep working hard to iron out kinks like bugs and performance issues. Just because we’re working on new features and content doesn't mean that we're not focused on fixes. Both additional content and fixes are being worked on simultaneously by different people on the team, so we're definitely not done with bugs yet,” the studio said.
While the effects of the layoffs on the team’s progress might not be evident this early on, only time will tell whether it affects the studio’s plans for a full release in two years. As always, we’ll let you know if anything comes up.
