Battleborn's Not Going Free To Play, But It Will Have Microtransactions

Gearbox announced earlier this week that Battleborn will be introducing a premium currency called Platinum that is used to buy skins and taunts on June 16th. Contrary to this week's rumor, the announcement does not include an an announcement that the game is going free-to-play. The rumor originated from a pre-announcement picture that showed a player purchasing Platinum, but it seems that the exact nature of the addition of Platinum was mistaken.

Platinum Packs will come in $1.99, $4.99, $9.99, $19.99, and $49.99 increments. Skins will come in at 420 Platinum, just under $4, while Taunts will cost 230 Platinum, or exactly $1.99. There will be skins available for all 26 characters when Platinum is introduced on June 16th, but only "Ghalt, Oscar Mike, Benedict, Shayne & Aurox, El Dragon, Whiskey Foxtrot, Kleese, and Alani" will have taunts available at first.
