Amazon Opens Closed Alpha Sign-Ups for Its New 4v4 “War MOBA,” March of Giants

Amazon Games’ Montreal studio is ready to let players try its first project, March of Giants. The 4v4 “War MOBA” will run a Closed Alpha on PC from September 2 to 10, 2025, and anyone with a Steam account in the United States, Canada, or Mexico can request access.

This is Amazon Games Montreal’s debut release and the first original title from creative director Rainbow Six Siege alum Xavier Marquis. The studio joins Amazon’s growing lineup of internal teams after the company found some success publishing MMOs like New World and Lost Ark. By combining traditional lane-based objectives with large-scale army control, March of Giants tries to carve out a niche in a genre still dominated by League of Legends and Dota 2.

Main details from the alpha announcement:

• 4v4 matches put players in command of towering “Giants” that function as hero units.
• A second layer of strategy lets each Giant marshal thousands of AI soldiers, blurring the line between MOBA and RTS.
• Players can erect “Battleworks” structures to push lanes, hold territory, or protect objectives.
• The test includes 15 Giants in total. Ten are available from the start, with the rest unlocking through play during the alpha.
• The client supports English only, is PC-exclusive, and is subject to a strict NDA.
• Amazon plans additional regional tests after collecting feedback and technical data from this first run.

Amazon has not shared a release window, but the company says player feedback during this alpha will influence balance, map design, and future testing phases. Given the studio’s pedigree in competitive shooters and Amazon’s continued push into live-service games, March of Giants is worth watching if you’re looking for a fresh spin on the MOBA formula.
