Aliens: Fireteam Elite Gets Its First Boss Fight And A Hardcore Mode

As if ravaging hordes of face-sucking aliens and synthetics weren’t dangerous enough, Aliens: Fireteam Elite players now have to contend with a mysterious disease as the co-op shooter’s new Pathogen DLC officially arrives. As previously announced, the DLC comes with new story missions and gives players their first shot at taking down a Queen.

“A mysterious pathogen is wreaking havoc on planet LV-895. Join your fellow marines in an all-new campaign that takes you into the heart of the Pathogen hive,” Cold Iron Studios wrote. “Get your Fireteam and get ready for more gear, more enemies, and more action. Delve deep into a new campaign that will pit you against the first boss fight of Aliens: Fireteam Elite - The Pathogen Queen.”

The Pathogen DLC also introduces the new Hardcore game mode that offers an extreme challenge for the most battle-hardened Colonial Marines with a permanent death waiting for those who fail. Marines who aren’t ready to face the possibility of perma-death can also put their skills to the test with 32 new challenge cards and 13 new attachments to add to their missions.

Players will also be able to face the new queen and the new challenges in style with new kit skins, weapon colors, decals, and emotes. Details can be found on the Aliens: Fireteam Steam page.
