Aliens: Fireteam Elite players will soon get to explore a new location and shoot down a new kind of extraterrestrial enemy in the multiplayer shooter’s first expansion – Pathogen. Pathogen is a paid DLC that will include three new story missions set in the planet LV-895 as well as new weapons and perks.

“Something sinister has evolved in the wilds of planet LV-895 and not even Xenomorphs are safe from its ravages. The crew of the Endeavor must venture into uncharted lands and face new terrifying enemies if they hope to discover the source of this mysterious menace.”

The expansion will also introduce the new Hardcore Mode with up to 50 levels of difficulty and permadeath mechanics. The game mode will arrive as a free update along with a whole host of new rewards and unlockable items.

“For the toughest Marines looking for a true challenge, Hardcore Mode poses the riskiest gameplay yet,” said developer Cold Iron Studios. “In Hardcore Mode, players will be able to start with new characters and play at a difficulty of their choice, but be warned, in this mode death means it's "Game Over". However, as you progress through Hardcore Mode, all unlockable items are saved for future use, after your character faces permadeath.”

Pathogen will be launching on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on August 30th. You can check out the official expansion reveal trailer below.
