Which MMO Have You Spent The Most Time In?
When I hit level 60 in vanilla World of Warcraft I typed in "/played" and read 8 days, 6 hours. I spent days, and then months, grinding, raiding, and PvPing in WoW. For periods of time Blizzard's MMORPG was the second life I lived when I wasn't bogged down by responsibility. It may be the game I've spent more time in than any other.
Ragnarok Online is a close second, but I was never able to tell exactly how much time I spent blowing up cute creatures because I bounced from one private server to the next.
If I had reliable internet in 1999 I would have spent more time in EverQuest than any other game (EarthLink dial-up worked when it wanted to). Instead I played Diablo at a friend's house slaying the Lord of Terror over and over again, until we got bored and started duping items before downloading spyware hacks.
More recently I was absorbed by Natural Selection 2, racking up more than 600 hours. That's nothing compared to people on my friends list who have thousands of hours in games like Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
I'm not sure I'll ever invest months of time in a game again. I'm still waiting for the next captivating MMO.
