ESL One: Cologne 2016

With a $1,000,000 USD prize pool, sixteen teams competed in this Premier tournament that involved a group stage and a single elimination playoff going from July 5-10.

Here are the results of the group stage:

With eight teams eliminated, the playoffs started off and SK Gaming and Team Liquid were able to fight through to meet in the Finals. This is a historic run for Team Liquid as it was an opportunity to be the first North American ESL Major champion. This finals was also the first time a Major Grand Final did not feature a European team with SK Gaming's Brazilian roster.

Unfortunately for Liquid, SK Gaming swept Team Liquid 2-0 by taking Train 16-7 and Cobblestone 16-6. With this win, SK Gaming not only win $500,000 USD but has won their second consecutive CS:GO Major title.
