When Blizzard Entertainment officially unveiled its Worldsoul Saga series of expansions earlier this month, it also opened up pre-orders for the first expansion in the series – The War Within. While the studio had traditionally been offering pre-orders for its expansions, it also offered a three-day head start for those who purchased the top-tier $90 pre-order edition.

The War Within will be the first time in the game’s long history that a select group of players will be allowed access to a new expansion ahead of everyone else and its raised some valid concerns among the long-running MMORPG’s community.

Lead designer Ion Hazzikostas, however, has responded to the outcry in a recent interview, arguing that the head start won’t grant long-term advantages. He stressed that head start players won’t have access to endgame content and will have to wait for them to open up just like everyone else. What he failed to mention was that head start players would have the run of the expansion for three days which will allow them to level up their characters, and possibly even an alt while others are still waiting for Blizzard to let them in.

In any case, those who purchase lower-end pre-order packs will still have a few days to catch up before the The War Within’s first raid opens its doors. Based on previous expansion releases, that’s going to be roughly two weeks after the expansion drops.
