World Of Warcraft Felguard Buff Bug Reportedly Used To Exploit Mythic+ Dungeons

As a live service game, various bugs and exploits are still bound to pop in World of Warcraft from time to time even after nearly 20 years in operation. One such bug was reported by a Warlock player earlier this month which inadvertently beefed up his Felguard after completing a Torghast run. The Felguard had apparently retained the dungeon’s Anima Powers buffs even after the player had left the encounter, bestowing the demonic pet with 440k hit points and around 11-12k damage.

Hoping to avoid being accused of using an exploit and having his account suspended, or worse, banned, the player did everything in his power to remove the buff. He eventually came up with a band-aid solution by using the Glyph of Wrathguard to turn the overpowered Felguard into a Wrathguard. Other players, however, aren’t as conscientious.

Following the report, a Chinese player posted a video to provide some context on how powerful the bugged Felguard could have been when min-maxed. The said player ended up with a Felguard that tipped the scales at a whopping 2.6 million HP and an average DPS of around 175k, at times peaking at 950k. The boss of a Felguard had the ability to one-shot mobs in +26 and +29 Mythic+ dungeons, clearing them both in record time.

While the video was meant to simply demonstrate the undeniable power of a bugged Felguard and to catch Blizzard’s attention, a few players have allegedly decided to use the bug for their own gain. According to PCGamesN, a recent +31 and +34 Mists of Tirna Scithe run on WoW’s Chinese version seem to indicate that the exploit may have been used in the dungeon. The group that completed both runs had two Demonology Warlocks and beat the previous records by around seven minutes for the +31 run and around eight minutes for the +34.

The run times by themselves can’t necessarily prove that the group used the Felguard exploit but the previous records being thoroughly stomped just after the video’s release is definitely cause for suspicion.
