World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight Will Feature An Improved Renown System

Before Shadowland’s infamous Renown system came along, one of the key features of World of Warcraft was increasing your Reputation with various factions for rare rewards. You’d complete quests for these factions to earn Reputation points which would then increase your standing with them until you reached Exalted status much like leveling up. Once you reached Exalted status with a specific faction, they would then allow you to purchase their faction-exclusive pet and mount for bragging rights.

In Shadowlands, you had to earn Renown points to improve your standing with your chosen Covenant which would in turn automatically grant you access to various rewards with each Renown bar that you fill up. These rewards include Soulbind Traits, cosmetics, rare mounts, and more. Unfortunately, the amount of Renown you could earn had a weekly cap unlike Reputation points which you could farm indefinitely.

According to Wowhead, the Renown system will still be used in the upcoming Dragonflight expansion but with a very welcome change. As a compromise, you’ll be able to earn Renown for the various endgame factions in the Dragon Isles without the weekly limit. Each Renown bar will require 1000 points to fill up which you’ll be able to farm to your heart’s content, thereby allowing you to unlock rewards at a much faster pace.

If you’re still missing the old reputation system though, it’s probably time to move on as Blizzard is probably going to stick with the new system from here on end. You could also switch to World of Warcraft Classic for the vanilla experience or jump into The Burning Crusade servers which will be crossing over to Wrath of the Lich King come September 26th with the pre-patch scheduled for August 30th.

As for Dragonflight, the expansion is still on track for release by the end of the year.
