World Of Warcraft’s Dragonflight Pre-Patch Is Now Live After A 12-Hour Downtime

Phase 1 of the World of Warcraft: Dragonflight pre-patch is now live after being offline for nearly half a day. The downtime to deploy the patch was initially expected to run for around 8 hours but was later extended by another 3 hours, with the servers finally coming back online at around 7 p.m. PDT.

With the pre-patch now live, players can now roll a Mage, Priest, or Rogue regardless of their race and now have access to the new talent trees for all of the available classes. The pre-patch also revamps the long-running MMORPG’s HUD and UI which haven’t seen a major update since WoW first launched in 2004.

Unfortunately, most players aren’t feeling the new look and are bombarding Blizzard with complaints about glitches, the lack of a tutorial on how to use the new HUD, and the need to use addons just to customize the HUD layout. There have also been a ton of requests to add the option to use the “classic” UI instead of the new one.

As you can probably expect from a major launch, players are also complaining about lag, login problems, disconnects, and server crashes as a flood of players descend on the game. If you’d rather wait for things to quiet down a bit before logging-in, there’s a whole host of blogs and guides that you can check out on the official site. You can also watch the first episode of the new Dragonflight Legacies animated short below to pass the time.
