World Of Warcraft’s Ion Hazzikostas Talks Up Cross-Faction Content And New Class Combos

Ion Hazzikostas, game director for World of Warcraft, spilled the beans on the game's Q&A session, and it looks like the development team is finally getting the message: players want cross-faction queued content, and they're going to get it. While the team is still working on making cross-faction interaction an opt-in feature, the goal is to break down those pesky faction barriers that have been causing strife for years.
But it's not just faction barriers that the team is looking to break down. They're also open to exploring new class and race combinations, though they note that some may require extra support from the art team and lore to make sense. Of course, it's not all sunshine and rainbows; Hazzikostas defended the staggered release of LFR, saying that it's important for players who aren't already in a raiding group to experience the story properly.
Of course, not everyone is happy with the game's current state. Hazzikostas had to defend the decision to stagger the release of LFR content, arguing that players who aren't in a friend-and-family raiding group will have to wait to see the end of the story. Whether you agree with that or not, it's clear that the WoW team is taking the right steps to improve the nearly-20-year-old MMORPG and make it more accessible to all players.
Cross-faction guilds are set to go live as part of the Embers of Neltharion update on May 2nd. In the meantime, you can check out the full Q&A here.
