World Of Warcraft’s Holly Longdale Says There’s Talk About A Possible Console Port

Now that Microsoft has assumed ownership of Activision Blizzard, there’s been talk of World of Warcraft potentially making it to consoles. While there are plenty of other PC MMORPG’s that successfully made the transition to consoles, it looks like we won’t be seeing a WoW port anytime soon but its not off the table according to the Vice President and Executive Producer Holly Longdale.
In a recent interview, Longdale said that they talk about the idea all the time and that they’re “pretty well positioned” for a console port but it’s going to require a completely different approach. Figuring out the right approach will supposedly be more challenging than the technical work of porting the long-running MMORPG over to consoles won’t be too much of a problem. There’s also the fact that the team is currently wrapped up in the recently unveiled Worldsoul Saga trio of expansions.
“Right now, we’re focused on the Worldsoul Saga. But if that comes up then we’ll reexamine things but, man, we’ve got enough to deal with right now,” Longdale said. “It would be very insincere to say that we’re not, like… of course we’re talking about that. We are Microsoft now.”
