World Of Warcraft Players Are Losing Huge Amounts Gold Due To Auction House Bug

World of Warcraft players are currently encountering a critical auction house bug that has resulted in the loss of large amounts of in-game gold when buying items while leaving others unable to purchase anything at all. According to reports, numerous players have ended up automatically purchasing multiple pieces of the same items in the auction house, or in some cases didn’t allow them to purchase an item even when thousands of them were up for sale.
Blizzard is now aware of the issue and has put it on the top of their list of things to fix but it might take a few days for the team to roll out a fix. “We’re aware of a bug that is causing some items to get stuck in invalid listings,” Community Manager Kaivax said on the MMORPG’s official forums. “This is a priority for us to fix, however, we expect the fix to take 2-3 more days. We’ll let you know as soon as the fix is deployed.”
The issue started early last week around the time that Patch 9.2.7 was released. The patch introduced action house features to the WoW companion mobile app for the first time, leading players to believe that it might be the culprit behind the auction house bug although there’s no official confirmation from Blizzard regarding this. Meanwhile, the auction house remains open despite requests to disable it for the time being.
“I think buyers would rather use trade chat to find consumables than going to buy one missive and ending up spending thousands of gold,” one player noted.
Some players are also asking Blizzard whether it plans to do anything to counteract the damage caused by the bug on the game’s economy and delays in player progression. “The economy is going to take weeks to recover,” one forum poster said. “[…] Tons of people have been swindled out of a TON of gold and, conversely, a lot of other people have made a ton of undeserved gold.” Players also complained about being unable to purchase items needed for progression such as consumables and materials required for legendary crafting. Blizzard has yet to comment on the matter.
