Blizzard Entertainment has yet to announce the next expansion for World of Warcraft, but there may be clues buried deep in the game’s code. Dataminers have unearthed what could potentially be clues to what the next expansion’s theme will be and where players will be headed next.

Over the past few years, Blizzard has taken us across Azeroth, the Outlands, Pandaria, and more recently, to the Dragon Isles. There’s speculation that we might be heading back to Azeroth to party with the Dwarves in Khaz Algar, a.k.a. Sector AR-938, for the next expansion, as suggested by a new heroic edition achievement called Algarian Stormrider. The game’s code also revealed several toy box achievements for an a possible Warcraft Rumble cross-promotion.

Based on Blizzard’s current expansion release timeline, we can probably expect the next expansion to arrive in late 2024.

Meanwhile, Blizzard has announced that they’ll be hosting a three-part PvP tournament called Guild Clash at BlizzCon 2023 this November, as well as a mythic dungeon race, and a still-unnamed event. BlizzCon 2023 will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center from November 3-4.
