World of Tanks Turns 15: Wargaming Plans a Month of In-Game Rewards

World of Tanks is officially hitting the 15-year mark, and Wargaming is marking the occasion with a month-long schedule of in-game events that begin on August 8. The free-to-play armor sim first rolled onto PC in 2010, popularizing a session-based model built around historically inspired tanks and competitive team play. A decade and a half later, it still draws a dedicated audience across PC and console, competing with titles like War Thunder for the attention of vehicular-combat fans.
Rather than a single anniversary weekend, the studio is spreading the festivities across most of August, mixing daily collectibles with new modes and veteran perks. Here is what players can expect:
- Anniversary Album: Log in each day to open envelopes that highlight milestone moments from the game’s history while handing out cosmetic items and currency.
- Special Battle Pass Chapter: Finishing the limited-time chapter unlocks Brennos, a Tier VIII French heavy tank, plus themed crew members and assorted resources.
- Overwhelming Fire Arcade Cabinet: Two weekends of a rapid-fire mode that drops eight experimental vehicles onto smaller maps for high-RPM skirmishes.
- Veteran Bonus: Anyone who created an account before April 14, 2012, receives a “15th Anniversary” badge, and every match featuring at least one veteran grants all participants a 15 percent credit boost.
- Anniversary Streams: Official broadcasts will give away 3D and 2D tank skins, Tier VIII-IX premium vehicles, and other loot via Twitch Drops.
- Merchandise Line: A limited run of apparel and collectibles is available through the World of Tanks Store for players who want a physical keepsake.
Fifteen years is a long haul for any live-service title, especially in an era where many free-to-play games struggle to keep servers online beyond a few years. World of Tanks’ ability to attract new commanders while retaining veterans shows the staying power of the game.
