Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem will be going into permanent maintenance mode as Wolcen Studio announces the end of updates for the multiplayer roguelike ARPG later this year. Unfortunately, the studio will not only be ending development and support for the game but it will also be downgrading it to a single-player game.

“Starting September 3, 2024, Wolcen will no longer support multiplayer functionality,” the studio announced. “Additionally, we will cease further development and support for the game. This decision allows us to focus on new projects, carrying forward the lessons learned from Wolcen. We want to assure you that Wolcen will still be available to play in single-player mode and to purchase at a new, permanently reduced price.”

The announcement comes four years after Wolcen launched on PC and just over a year after it came out on consoles. The studio explains that they’ve encountered “foundational hurdles” that prevent them from further updating and improving the game barring a complete tech overhaul. For now, you can continue playing the game as you normally would.
