Ubisoft Announces The Division Resurgence For Mobile
Skull and Bones’ release date isn’t the only big announcement from Ubisoft this week. The French publisher has also announced a new Tom Clancy’s The Division game for mobile called The Division Resurgence. The game features an entirely new storyline that builds on the events of the previous games and will take players back to New York City after the events of the first game.
“This open-world game is a whole new opus to the Tom Clancy’s The Division franchise, with a new storyline, villains and factions. As a player you will be plunged into an independent campaign from The Division 1 and The Division 2. As an agent of the Strategic Homeland Division (SHD) your mission is to restore order, to protect civilians against hostile factions, and to help them rebuild a better future.”
Players can expect to see the same cover-and-shoot mechanics found in the PC and console games, along with looting, gear customization, and co-op play. If it’s anything like the main series titles, we can also probably expect a PvP mode or two. Unlike the first two games, however, The Division Resurgence will be free-to-play and will likely come with various microtransactions.
“The Division Resurgence is a natural universe extension for any lovers of the franchise, enabling them to experience the game anew,” said Ubisoft. “Free to play at heart, this game retains all the core gameplay mechanics that make up the foundations of Division games while adapting the controls to handheld devices, making it easier than ever to keep on fighting.”
“Moreover, gameplay session lengths have been adapted to gaming on the go to ensure an optimum playing experience for all,” the studio added. “The key ingredients that make a Division game are back, with the added spice of meeting new characters, confronting new enemies and factions… and many more surprises to discover in the upcoming months!”
Ubisoft has yet to announce a release window for the new mobile title but you can take your first peek at the upcoming shooter in the official reveal trailer below. You can also sign-up for the upcoming Closed Alpha tests on the official site.
