Solid Clouds’ multiplayer sci-fi RPG Starborne: Frontiers has soft-launched on Android and iOS devices as the PC version is pushed back to later this year. The Starborne spinoff was first announced back in 2021 as a full-fledged persistent MMORPG but has since been downgraded to a “squad RPG” for PC and mobile.

Unfortunately, it looks like its discreetly switched genres again and is now being billed as a mobile-first gacha game, but at least it’s retained its multiplayer squad RPG tag.

“Starborne: Frontiers is a one-of-a-kind mobile experience for sci-fi fans, now available on iOS and Android devices, with a PC release to follow later this year,” reads the official press release. “The game draws inspiration from popular gacha and tactics-based games but features unique strategy elements and a realistic art style not commonly seen in the genre.”

Starborne: Frontiers is set 400 years in the future in the turbulent outskirts of the Starborne Universe where massive corporations fight for wealth and dominance. “From the ruthless Zealot Pirates of XAOC, to the immortal scientists of Everliving, each group has their own agenda to push. Players must rely on their fleet to protect themselves and fight their way to the top of the galaxy.”

Players will embark on a story-driven journey through the sci-fi universe that they can either take on alone or with a group of friends. They’ll also be able to pit their skills against other players in a real-time PvP arena.
