The anticipated transition of Star Wars: The Old Republic from BioWare to Broadsword seems to be gaining more traction as one of the game's lead developers, Ted Gegoux, announced his departure from Electronic Arts and his move to Broadsword.

Gegoux, who served as SWTOR's director of live operations since 2014, expressed his support for the decision to relocate the game to a new home where it can receive the necessary love and attention.

“Today was my last day at EA,” tweeted Gegoux. “I agree with the choice to move SWTOR to a place where it can get the love and attention it needs, and I will be joining the Broadsword team to make sure that happens.”

While there is no official word from other major developers regarding their plans, the shift to Broadsword appears to be gaining momentum, potentially bringing positive changes to SWTOR. In the meantime, the fate of the development team and whether there’ll be more staff restructuring remains unclear.

Both EA and BioWare have also yet to confirm whether Star Wars: The Old Republic will indeed be pawned off to Broadsword, or if another studio will take up the slack. However, with Gegoux’s recent transition from BioWare, it looks like its partnership with Broadsword is a done deal.
