Skyforge Serves Up More Information On Invasions

 

Allods Team has released a new developer diary for Skyforge, unveiling new information on the invasion mechanics.  In the game, players take on the role of gods that protect their homeworld from alien threats.  These threats take on a Godzilla-esque and even Cthulu-esque vibes as giant monsters and swarms of monsters invade the world.  Ready to get your tentacle on?

Skyforge - Developer Diary IV: Invasions

The new developer diary video reveals the cyclical nature of this that comes in phases.  First is preparation in which players are notified of the invasion on the global map, which represents the enemy landers entering the planet's atmosphere.  Players are then charged with various tasks such as shooting down the ships, or protecting strategic locations from these ships which then leads into a counter-invasion phase.

Finally, it comes to the part where players can take the fight to the enemy, which opens up a 24 hour window to launch an all-out offensive on the enemy commander called the "Herald".   Its a global even with global consequences... victory brings about server-wide buffs that increases rewards on all content and opens up a special raid that is specific to the invasion and defeat brings about a scorched landscape as a reminder of failure.

Definitely a much more interesting approach to the real-time generated events we have seen becoming more and more popular in mmos these days!
