After multiple delays, Ubisoft is finally preparing to set sail on the maiden voyage of its upcoming multiplayer open world adventure game, Skull and Bones. Those who were lucky enough to receive an invite to this week’s closed beta test can now pre-load the game through the Ubisoft launcher.

The closed beta test is set to open its doors on August 24th at 7 p.m. PDT, giving a select few the chance to live the pirate life in various locations along a virtual version of the African coast.

“Located within the Red Isle is the pirate den of Sainte Anne. Ruled by John Scurlock, the local Kingpin you’ll deal with as you start your rise to the top of the pirate world,” Ubisoft teased. “This den is a safe zone where you can interact with other players, craft your ships, weapons, and equipment with the help of the skilled artisans who have made their home here.”

“We highly encourage you to go off the beaten path and forge your pirate adventure!” the studio added. “For the Closed Beta, you will be able to play and experience main campaign contracts up until the Exterminate the Rat contract. In addition, you’ll be able to rise all the way until the Buccaneer Infamy Tier by engaging with a variety of activities available in our world, including the main campaign contracts.”

More information about the upcoming closed beta test and the minimum PC requirements you’ll need to play the game can be found on the Skull and Bones official website.
