Ship Of Heroes Kicks Off Its Long-Awaited Weekend Housing Beta

The Ship of Heroes weekend housing beta that developer Heroic Games has been touting since February has officially begun. The beta test gives selected players first dibs at experiencing and testing out the superhero MMORPG’s new housing system. These player houses are fully-customizable and can function as a private lair where heroes can kick back and relax after a long, hard day of superhero work, as a full-blown superhero base for the whole team, or both.

Players will be able to choose from eight varying apartment layouts from small, single-floor studios to sprawling multi-story spaces. They can then place walls, doors, windows, floorings, and furnishings, and decorate it according to their tastes. The robust customization system allows players to paint everything in virtually any color, from the walls to the décor. Objects can also be adjusted and rotated in three axes allowing them to be placed even in gravity-defying locations.

“Currently, we have over four hundred textures, items, and objects that can be purchased for a player’s base,” said Heroic Games. “By comparison, the number for Final Fantasy XIV appears to be over 1,000, but that is a large, successful MMORPG with a long history of expansions behind it. We plan to add more options over the lifespan of Ship of Heroes, and in particular in response to requests from this feature Beta.”
