Ship Of Heroes Promises Smoother Combat In Its Next Public Playtest

Ship of Heroes fans who jumped into the supehero MMORPG’s Steam Next Fest demo back in October were quick to point out one glaring problem in the game: it’s combat system was really bad. The upside is that Heroic Games is now aware of the issue and has been taking steps to significantly improve combat experience.
The team has made various adjustments to the game’s combat mechanics and the system in general to enhance players’ situational awareness and make combat that much smoother. These adjustments include increased targeting distance, camera improvements to make it easier for players to deal with enemies outside of their field of vision.
Newly made characters will also have access to two quick-hitting skills right off the bat alongside a third pistol skill to help them deal with early threats. That’s in addition to the buffs applied to primary powers across the board. Skilling NPCs will also and those that offer augments will also call players’ attention by waving their arms.
The combat changes will be included in Ship of Heroes’ next public test. Heroic Games has yet to announce a date for the playtest but promises that it’s coming in the near future. In the meantime, you can watch a preview of the improved combat system in the new developer video below.
