Ship Of Heroes Is Looking To Raise $400,000 On Kickstarter

We've known for some time now that Ship of Heroes developer Heroic Games would be taking to Kickstarter to fund its game. Ship of Heroes is at least the fourth City of Heroes successor currently in development and is the third to attempt to raise funding through Kickstarter; City of Titans developer Missing Worlds Media successfully raised $678,189 in late 2013, whereas Valiance Online developer SilverHelm Studios failed reach its goal of $150,000 in late 2014, having canceled the Kickstarter with only $34,680 raised.
Ship of Heroes' Kickstarter went live today with its previously-announced $400,000 goal and the question now is whether potential backers have room in their wallets for yet another City of Heroes successor. While City of Titans proved that backers are willing to front the money they're asking for for a City of Heroes successor, three and a half years have come and gone since then and none of the City of Heroes successors that have been announced thus far have come to fruition.
Ship of Heroes is a bit different in that it is set in a city that is located on a spaceship. The game will have a class system, but players will be able to customize each class by choosing primary and secondary power sets, each of which will "alter [their] characters' stats substantially." Heroic Games also promises a system of harvesting materials, crafting "special equipment and power ups," and trading with other players. Day jobs will provide various schematics and recipes that will be used for crafting in exchange for completing various jobs, such as "ship security," various medical tasks, engineering tasks, trading, bounty hunting, and harvesting.
