RuneScape Disables Login Permissions Of Affected Accounts As Part Of The Restoration Process
Jagex continues to work on restoring RuneScape accounts affected by the massive Login Lockout issue earlier this month.
In case you missed it, a “perfect storm” of events resulted major bug with the game’s live and backup systems which caused widespread login issues and errors a few weeks ago. Players who were able to login also reported missing items and progress rollbacks. The developers have since focused all their efforts into restoring the affected accounts although they aren’t able to give a definite timeline due to the enormity of the task facing them. The team assured players that compensations will be given out for the extended downtime once the issues have been resolved.
In the meantime, the developers will be beta testing their recovery process which will start with a select group of players that have been chosen because of their helpfulness in providing critical feedback in previous situations. But before they can move on to reviewing and restoring affected accounts, they’ll first have to temporarily disable login permission for the accounts in question. A process that has already started as of yesterday. Affected players will be notified through email.
No update has been given as to how long the login permissions will be disabled but we’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear word from the developers. If you’ve been affected by the bug, you can share your experiences in the comments section below.
