Requiem Online’s Reboot Is Off To A Rocky Relaunch On Steam

Gravity Interactive’s reboot of the post-apocalyptic horror MMORPG Requiem Online, now known as Requiem: Desiderium Mortis, is now live following its low-key relaunch on Steam yesterday.
As announced earlier this week, the latest version of the 15-year-old game shifts the focus of the game from all-out PvP to a more PvE-centric experience. The game’s original open-world PvP mechanics have been replaced by more controlled PvP instances which include 10v10 Battlegrounds and a massive 50v50 war. PvP-focused classes have also been reworked with new skill and abilities to make them to easily take on PvE content.
The launch day patch also comes with a few welcome improvements, including adjustments to the leveling curve, a new level cap of 69, and the removal of several cash shop items along with the so-called “luckyboxes”.
“We want Requiem to be more balanced and fair to all players, thus several items that we deemed to be too influential in player power were removed for purchase in the game,” said Gravity.
The game’s relaunch, however, has been fraught with various issues including client crashes, registration problems, and players being locked out of certain regions. Unfortunately, the game’s official forums were archived prior to the game’s re-launch which left players confused as to where to report the ongoing issues.
The good news is that the relaunch has resulted in renewed interest in the game, bringing the peak player concurrency up from a depressing 6 players up to a party of over 300.
