Pathfinder Online Has Alignments, Factions, and Gods (Oh My!)

As a game still in development, Pathfinder Online still has much more to go before it is polished enough to be released. The fine folks at Goblinworks talked shop in their latest dev blog earlier this week, discussing some of the upcoming features. They talked about the alignment system, the factions, and the gods.

The alignment system will be a karmic barometer of sorts, rating you anywhere from lawful good to chaotic evil and anywhere in between. This alignment directly effects the kinds of feats you can train.

The faction system will be very similar to those found in other MMOs, where it will be the relationship players have with the NPCs of a group. Raising this value will lead to special features including items and training. However, each faction has an opposing enemy faction, so players will have to choose wisely.

Worshipping a god will also be a prominent part of Pathfinder Online. It is intertwined with the alignment system, and therefore will affect the feats that players can access. A player's alignment must be the same of the god they are trying to worship for it to be successful. The gods themselves will also have certain relationships with each other, so in that way it is similar to the factions.

Pathfinder Online is currently scheduled to be released sometime next year, but there is plenty of news between here and then, so stay tuned!
