It’s been a rough month for Singularity 6 following the open beta launch of its cozy life sim Palia. Once the NDA was lifted, the studio was flooded with both positive and negative feedback from the community, particularly from MMO players who were apparently disappointed by the scale of the game.

In a follow-up to Singularity 6’s earlier post, Game Director Adan Karabaich apologized for not meeting player expectations and assured the community that they were working towards making the game a full-fledged MMORPG. “While we’ve been making progress on that core, we’ve also built a foundation and some of the accouterments that players coming to Palia with MMORPG scale experiences and expectations might expect. But we know we’re not there yet on the MMO side for a lot of players,” he said.

Karabaich added that they had a “grand” vision for the game but will admittedly take years for it to be realized.

In an accompanying blog post, the developers outlined several new features and quality-of-life improvements that they hope to release soon. These include the ability to sit and lay down, destroy crops, interact with furniture, lighter skin tones for characters, and proximity chat bubbles.

Meanwhile, open beta testing is now in full swing with full release scheduled for this winter. All progress from the open beta will carry over to full release.
