Origins Of Malu Launch Plans Laid Out, Mobile Spin-Off Announced

Origins of Malu's BigWorld version is technically online now, but it isn't quite in fully working order yet. One of the developers had a family emergency shortly after the relaunch and a number of fixes need to be made before the game's base is solid once again. In an effort to continue to be transparent, the team at Burning Dog Media have put out a vague roadmap.

The short version is that the MMO will be "running smoothly" in a week or two. Several patches are supposed to go out this week to "fix glaring holes," including issues with speeds—for example, movement speed—and mobs not spawning properly. Once it is fixed up and in working order, they will begin developing new features for the MMO. In the longer term, the game will be launched as a "pure free to play [game] [...] in a staged manner over the next couple months."

Once the MMO is running smoothly, the Early Access price will drop. Those who bought in previously will get "a special treat and some nice rewards." The team is still finalizing the details.

In a surprise move, they also announced that "everything [they] have developed in U4 is going mobile." The Unreal Engine 4 version of the game is being turned into "a top down story based action shooter" for iOS and Android. An "independent team" will be working on the mobile game and it should not affect development of the MMO. No other details are revealed as of yet.
