Nostalrius Comes To An End As Blizzard Sends Cease And Desist

The team behind World of Warcraft's largest private server Nostalrius announced yesterday that they will be shutting the server down following cease and desist letters that Blizzard had sent to both them and their hosting provider, OVH. The shutdown will officially occur on April 10th, granted their hosting company does not shut them down before then.
Soon, the Nostalrius server will become open source. The team wants the community to decide Nostalrius' future from here on out. The original team members will still be around, but they will "no longer take the lead," nor will they host the game.
Furthermore, a Change.org petition was started in hopes of getting Blizzard to see that players do in fact want a vanilla World of Warcraft server. "This message is written in hopes that changes may be made possible in the link between Blizzard and volunteer based legacy servers," the petition states. As of this time, the petition has garnered just over 27,000 signatures.
