New World Finishes Server Merges And Addresses Seasonal Content Delays

Amazon Game Studios has successfully completed its planned New World server merges without a single issue rearing its ugly head, at least from our point of view. Six of the new servers that were added to compensate for the Rise of the Angry Earth launch rush has now been merged into four existing servers and the US East and Asia Pacific servers have been left alone for the time being by popular demand.
Meanwhile, the developers dropped a new dev blog that dives into the new artifact system, alongside a new Q&A session where they addressed concerns about missing and delayed content in the open-world MMORPG’s latest development roadmap.
“We’re coming off a huge release, the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion, and we had a few quality mishaps there. So we wanted to make sure that going forward, that doesn’t happen again,” Game Director Scot Lane explained. “We want to focus on high-quality deliverables. And so, because of that, we decided to hold a few things back.”
“On top of that, when we talked about cross-world expeditions, which was planned for season four, we really wanted to lean into it and go for a full PUG finder because we think that would be a much better experience for players,” he added. “And that’s going to cost us a little more time as well. So we’re hearing people say they’d rather us go a little slower and deliver at a higher quality, and we’re going to do that in earnest.”
