New World Says First Expansion Reveal Coming Soon, Desync Lag Fixes Incoming

The big three of the New World dev team sat down for another community Q&A in the 46th episode of its long-running Forged in Aeternum video series. Right off the bat, viewers will notice that the episode was filmed in a brand-new location, which the developers promised tackle in a future developer update, although they did say that the new filming space was temporary.
As for the Q&A itself, Game Director Scot Lane, Creative Director David Verfaille, and Senior Producer Katy Kaszynski answered questions and responded to feedback about the open-world MMORPG’s first expansion, summer patches, bug fixes, and more.
Since Amazon adopted a seasonal release format for New World, the studio has rolled out two seasons, with Season 2: Blood of the Sands still underway. The dev team, however, has yet to reveal anything about the promised expansion and are unfortunately not ready to talk about it just yet, although they did promise to reveal more information soon.
That being said, they did reveal a few small details such as the fact that the expansion will focus mostly on loot and various gameplay reworks. As with any major update, the untitled expansion will be rolled out to the public test server first for feedback and polish before it hits the live servers.
The trio also responded to feedback on some of the bugs that popped up with the most recent patches, including the desync lag that players have been struggling with when teleporting in 3v3 Arenas and Outpost Rush battles since the August 3rd update. They assured the community that they’re actively working on the issue and already have fixes ready for some of the issues related to the larger desync problem.
They also acknowledged that the Q&A session may have raised more question than it answered but said that more dev updates and the official expansion reveal are “right around the corner”. You can check out the full Q&A session below.
