New World’s big three are back with answers to the open-world MMORPG community’s most pressing questions in a new Forged in Aeternum episode. In the latest community Q&A session, Senior Producer Katy Kaszynski, Game Director Scot Lane, and Creative Director David Verfaillie touch on the ongoing server congestion, mutation difficulty, Artifacts, Heartrunes, and more.

On the hot topic of ongoing queues, the developers acknowledged the frustration it’s caused since the release of the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion earlier this month. They assured the community that they’re closely monitoring the player population to ensure that players don’t wait in line too long to get into the game.

They also pointed out that even though a certain server indicates that it hasn’t reached its population cap, it doesn't mean that the server isn’t already full. There’s no word on whether they’ll be giving out free character transfer tokens and it looks like that won’t be happening anytime soon.

Players also raised concerns about Season 2’s Devourer Sandwurm Raid and higher mutation difficulties being too challenging. The team says that both are intentionally designed to be extremely difficult encounters and that there are currently no plans to tune down their difficulty. They are, however, open to making the Devourer Heartrune a bit more accessible down the line.

The trio says that they’ll also be slowing down the release of new Heartrunes as they’ve now reached “critical mass”. Instead, they’ll be focusing more on creating new Artifacts, a new type of gear that was introduced with the recent expansion which will tie in with the theme for each season.

There was also a request for a caster-type weapon that would allow players to shoot bees. Suffice it to say that we won’t be seeing those in the foreseeable future.
