MU Online’s Season 20 Part 1 Update Introduces the Alchemist

More than 20 years after its original launch, MU Online continues to exist and enjoy consistent updates. Webzen has kicked off Season 20 Part 1 on PC, adding a brand-new playable class called the Alchemist. The update arrives alongside a limited-time Speed Server designed to help newcomers and veterans level the class in record time.
The Alchemist leans on “traditional” fantasy alchemy rather than MU’s typical sword-and-sorcery combat. Wielding a wand in one hand and an elixir in the other, the caster mixes decent survivability with party utility. To give players a head start, Webzen is handing out large sums of Ruud (one of MU’s premium currencies) and a free server-transfer ticket to anyone who levels on the faster paced temporary server, then jumps back to a standard world.
Key additions at a glance:
- New class – Alchemist
- Angel Homunculus: summons two homunculi for area damage
- Ignition Bomber: converts rocks into explosive AoE attacks
- Countless Weapon: turns air into a barrage of projectiles
- Confusion Stone: temporarily calls extra field monsters, boosting party grind speed
- Speed Server
- 100 Ruud granted for every level from 401 to 800 (up to 40,000 total)
- One free server-transfer ticket per account
- Tiered rewards for reaching levels 500, 650, 750, and 800 before transferring, including Bloodangel gear, third-tier wings, large Ruud bundles, and cosmetic items
- Time-limited events
- Playtime Attack: weekend play-time tracker with extra rewards in early August
- Level-Up Ranking: race to the highest level on the Speed Server, with Ruud and Bloodangel Soul prizes for leaderboard finishers
- In-game shop bundles such as Speed-Up Packages and Last Burning Package for players who want optional boosts
MU Online first launched in South Korea in 2001, well before modern free-to-play MMORPGs became commonplace. Continual seasonal updates like this one have helped keep its community active, especially across Latin America and Eastern Europe where the game remains popular. Mu Online is also one of those games that has a huge private server community (similar to Ragnarok Online in that regards).
