Mission Tables Will Finally Be Removed In World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight

Blizzard Entertainment might not be ready to reveal World of Warcraft: Dragonflight’s official release date, but they’re happy to drop bits of information here and there. The latest info from Game Director Ion Hazzikostas is that the upcoming expansion will finally do away with the Mission Table system after seven long years.
The controversial system was first introduced in Warlords of Draenor and has been in place in various iterations since then. Unfortunately, WoW’s community never took a liking to the system no matter how many times Blizzard tweaked, revamped, and updated it. Which is why it was inevitably brought up during yesterday’s developer roundtable on Twitter. The good news is that players will no longer have to waste their time on the outdated mechanic come Dragonflight, and hopefully in succeeding expansions as well.
One other hot topic that frequently comes up with the announcement of a new expansion is the subject of flight. With dragons obviously taking front and center in Dragonflight, the question is whether players will get to ride them or not. According to the devs, players will start out developing their dragon riding discipline but will eventually be able to take flight on any of their existing mounts.
Dragon-riding will also be an account-wide unlock as part of the team’s philosophy of making unlocks and progress an account-wide endeavor as much as possible.
As for the Dragonflight’s official release date, that’s still under wraps although the team has promised to start Alpha testing soon. In the meantime, you can read a summary of the developer roundtable over on Wowhead.
